Growing up, Genia’s sister was diagnosed with an intellectual disability that allowed her to learn what life was like when a loved one has a disability. When she eventually started her own family, Genia’s youngest son was also born with disabilities.

Genia always knew that she needed to be involved in the community with other parents of children with disabilities. She didn’t feel called to be on the board of directors or to volunteer in a normal capacity. As the support community for diagnosed children has moved online, Genia knew she had to create a space where the goal was to focus on creating a positive and impactful life for the children.
